Why you feel pains and tiredness after short term singing
What causes vocal tiredness and pains after short term singing
1.) Singing above your vocal range
which I define primarily as pushing your voice too high up or too low in the scale. Learn to sing in a simple key that you are comfortable with. You should know that everyone has their own vocal range!, Some may feel very comfortable singing very high keys but not comfortable with lower keys. Some may feel comfortable with lower keys like most male singers but not comfortable with higher keys!.
Singing in a key you're comfortable with gives you more stability in sound production and make your singing outstanding.
2.) Smoking and/or drinking alcoholic beverages.
Some food like alcohol are not friendly with our voices because of the side effects the can cause to the voice. Someone who is addicted to taking alcohol has a high percentage of having a bad voice, avoiding smoking and drinking of alcohol it is best. If you are so addicted to it you can take it in a very little amount shouldn't be much and also not frequently.
3.)Periods of excessive and unsupported loud talking
for example, trying to have a conversation over the DJ at a loud party.
If you find yourself in a noisy place and you wish to speak with someone around you, just call the person with sign language and both of you move to a quite place and discuss. Don't talk too loud before you strain your voice.
4.)Singing with a high larynx
which manifests most often as pushing the larynx up in the throat to “help” the pitch rise ,when this happens you feel pains in your neck and your voice will automatically change and you won't be able to sing properly like before!. Try to always relax your self and your larynx when Singing if you can't sing higher keys and you wish to do so then you need a coach to guide you.
5.)Tongue tension
primarily manifesting as a grabbing or bearing down by the base of the tongue onto the larynx while singing to create the perception of a richer tone. Yes this is a good technic but it actually can cause you to be tire (note not strain but tire). Try not to apply too much tension when doing this.
6.)Singing without proper soft palate space.
Jaw tension while singing, which does not allow for the proper stretch of the soft palate. When the is always tension your singing won't really be outstanding because your muscles are under much pressure and that doesn't makes the sound production free.
Reducing the tensions or pressure or not applying personal muscle support but breathing support when singing will make the sound production free , bringing out the best quality sounds.
7.)Pushing too much breath pressure through the larynx.
Singing with the head/neck pushed forward, as though the singer were reaching for the notes out or up in front of him. Learning proper breathing support will not just make you avoid pushing too much breath but also make you a better singer.
8.)Lack of stable diaphragmatic support for breath.
The singer ends up “supporting” their sound by other detrimental, unintended means. Learn to breath with your diaphragm when singing. When breathing with your diaphragm your shoulders are not supposed to move up and down.
